In life, there are things we enjoy doing and some things we don’t enjoy doing. Instead of dreading them, there are ways to make them more bearable. I will use two of my personal examples – Housework and work.

1.Tackle It Early:

One of the things I don’t enjoy doing is housework, especially after a long day. I found that doing the housework in the morning while I am still fresh and energetic makes the chores much easier. Do you have something you don’t enjoy doing? Try tackling it early.

2. Start Small:

Sometimes the thought of cleaning the whole house tires me. So, I trick myself into thinking – "Okay, I will just sweep the floor." And, as you might guess, I often end up doing more. But even if I only sweep, that's okay—it's still progress.

3. Outsource Help:

For some cleaning tasks I usually avoid (cleaning the windows and fans), I outsource help. I hire a cleaner once a month. It's not too expensive, and it saves me a lot of time.

4. Find Positives:

I work in customer service. The thoughts of what kind of customers I will meet today, and the possibility of overtime, scare me. When I dread going to work, I remind myself of three things I enjoy about it. For example, some nice colleagues, a dinner date with friends after work, and the upcoming off days and weekends.

5. Finish Quickly, Play Sooner:

I remember my mom saying to me (when I was still a kid), "Finish your homework quickly, so you can play sooner." It still applies to adult life. The faster I finish my task, the sooner I can leave the office. The faster I get the cleaning done, the sooner I can chill and watch Netflix.

6. Take Care Of Yourself:

Sometimes, I don’t manage my workload properly and end up leaving the office too late. Instead of getting rest right away, I spend at least an hour mindlessly scrolling through social media and end up sleeping late. The next morning, I feel so dreaded to go to work. The next day, the cycle continues. That makes me realize that if I neglect self-care, I end up in a cycle of exhaustion. It's crucial to set boundaries, get enough rest, and maintain a sustainable work-life balance.

Above are six simple strategies I use when I have to do things I don’t enjoy. What about you? Do share with us in the comments below.
