Christmas is almost here, and today I am going to share the non-fiction story of Christmas

– The Story Of Jesus Christ -

Once upon a time, there lived a young girl named Mary. She was about 14 or 15 years old and engaged to a guy named Joseph. One day, an angel visited Mary and said that she would give birth to a baby boy named Jesus, who would become famous worldwide, bring blessings to the world, and do great things.

Now, Mary lived in a very conservative society where pregnancy before marriage was considered immoral. When Mary became pregnant by the Holy Spirit, Joseph wanted to break off the engagement silently. However, an angel appeared to Joseph, telling him that Mary had conceived by the Holy Spirit and not to break off the engagement.

As Mary's pregnancy progressed, Jesus was born in a humble manger because there was no room at the inn. Angels shared the good news with shepherds, and wise men traveled from afar to present gifts to the newborn. King Herod, jealous of Jesus, ordered the killing of all boys under two years old. To protect Jesus, an angel instructed Joseph and Mary to flee to Egypt until King Herod's death.

Though Jesus lived a relatively short life of around 33 years, the Bible highlights the numerous miracles he performed. Every Christmas, Christians reflect on this story. But why is the birth of Christ so significant?

1. Jesus Came to Change Our Fate (By Giving Us Hope and Life)

John 10:10 "The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full."

There was a time when I felt tempted to pursue fortune-telling to “change my fate” for the better. At the same time, I knew this would offend God. After some struggling, I decided not to do it, due to the fear of offending God.

The very next morning, I had an “aha” moment. God said to me: “You are so eager to ‘change your fate’ for good. Did you realize that the moment you decided to believe in Jesus, your fate has been completely changed?”

The Bible verse of John 10:10 came to my mind. Due to sin, humankind's fate is eternal death in the end. But Jesus came to change our fate, by dying on the cross, shedding His blood on our behalf so that we all can have life, and have it in full.

2. Nobody Can See God, But Through Jesus, God Made Himself Known.

John 1:18 No one has ever seen God, but the one and only Son, who is himself God and is in the closest relationship with the Father, has made him known.

Have you ever wondered if God is real since no one has ever seen Him? John 1:18 states that God sent His Son to the world so that people can see His presence. Through Jesus Christ, people can see God’s nature and His love towards us.

Jesus states that if we know Him, we will know God and have seen Him as well:

John 14:6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.”

3. Jesus Demonstrates How To Have a Genuine Relationship With God

It is human nature for people to have a connection or communicate with God. Therefore, people do prayers, perform rituals, practice meditations, etc. Jesus has come and demonstrated how to have a genuine relationship with God.

One of the keys to having a genuine relationship with God is to love God genuinely. And to love God genuinely is to follow what God has asked us to do – to love others and treat others with compassion.

4. Jesus Fulfills God’s Laws By “Breaking The Rules”

When Jesus was on Earth, He did things that went against the rules of society at that time.

He actively reached out and spoke to people who were considered outcasts, like the Samaritan woman. The disciples were surprised that He talked to her.

He healed people with diseases by touching them, even though most people avoided sick people to prevent infection. He also sat and ate with tax collectors, which upset religious people.

Jesus even rescued a woman caught in the act of adultery from almost being stoned to death. According to the law, she was supposed to be stoned.

By breaking these rules, Jesus showed everyone what it's like to follow God's ways and have the heart of the Father – treating others with God's truth, love, and compassion.

5. Jesus Experienced and Overcame It All

Jesus came to Earth as a human and went through the same things normal people do. He felt pain when He was beaten and tortured before they put Him on the cross. He also felt fear when He knew the time had come for Him to be hung on the cross. Despite this, He chose to follow God's will, not His own.

People didn't always like Jesus; there were times when they asked Him to leave or got upset, even after He performed miracles. However, He kept speaking the truth and didn't try to please everyone.

Jesus experienced betrayal, being betrayed by Judas and all the disciples when He was arrested. Still, He was willing to forgive and reconcile with His disciples after everything that happened.

The Pharisees constantly tried to trick Him and get Him into trouble, but Jesus faced it all and overcame it. As John 16:33 says, "I have told you these things so that in me you may have peace. In this world, you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world."

Thought at the End

I really love Christmas movies. What makes them special is that they are always filled with elements of hope, miracles, and joy, even if they aren't specifically about Jesus. I think this special quality comes from the story of Jesus' birth. I hope your Christmas is peaceful, joyful, and full of miracles, and that you get to learn about Jesus Christ during this holiday season. Merry Christmas!
